The Brazilian "Axe Murderer" Wanderlei Silva (33-10-1) was earlier reported to take into contest against the former WEC Light Heavyweight Champion (10-3) Brian Stann for a Main Card Middleweight bout at UFC 130 on May 28. Yet, recent reports tell the said bout was never signed and will not likely happen in contradiction of the earlier statements.
Silva's last fight was against Michael Bisping at UFC 110 a year ago winning his middleweight debut via unanimous decision subsequent to two successive losses from Rich Franklin and his former PRIDE adversary Quinton Jackson. He then went through a knee treatment mid of last year and has never fought since then.
Brian Stann in contrast, recently earned his 2nd victory fighting in middleweight division over Chris Leben at UFC 125 last New Year's day. The All American went down fighting at 185 lb after his lost against Phil Davis at UFC 109.
Though there are no clarity as to his match against Silva at UFC 130, it was told that he is likely expected to be in the event roster still and would fight someone else should this fight doesn't turn up as initially reported.
